A wine that is light bodied and under 12.5% alcohol with medium to high acidity and delicate primary fruity aromas. Think varietal expression, fruit purity and precision rather than emphasis on wine making i.e battonage, reduction, oak, lees contact. These are refreshing wines with wide appeal. Typical tasting note expressions are ‘crisp’, ‘fresh’, ‘zesty’, ‘cool climate’, ‘purity of fruit’, ‘lean’. In its simplest form a light bodied wine would be equivalent to ‘skimmed’ milk and a full- bodied wine equivalent to blue-top, ‘whole fat’ milk. If your preference is for lighter bodied wines, look out for these grape varieties – young Gruner Veltliner, young Riesling, Pinot Bianco/Blanc, Frappato, unaged Chardonnay, Cinsault (whites), Pinot Noir, Gamay, Kadarka (reds).

Fresh & fruity with a bright acidity and good fruit intensity – citrus, peach and tropical fruits. Slight grip and very poised; round mouthfeel and long length (fermented and aged on skins). The Kristancic estate comprises 25 hectares in the Goriška Brda region of Primorska, which is close to Italian border. It is a secluded almost hidden corner of Western Slovenia often referred to as the “Tuscany of Slovenia” due to its undulating hills and scenic views. The Kristancic family have been producing wine since 1988 and have been recognised globally already for their wine-making mastery. These are clean and bright, well made wines using as little intervention as possible


Appearance: Light yellow with shades of green.

Nose: Specifically clean, elegant and fruity – citrus, peaches and tropical fruits.

Palate: Elegant and complex on the palate, well-balanced with light mineral notes.

Serving recommendation: 12°C
