Straightforward, lean and precise. A natural, low intervention wine that is unfiltered, reflecting all the characteristics of the local Carnuntum hilly terroir and grape varietal. The Blaufränkisch vines are up to 18 years old and cultivated on limestone soils at 260m altitude and planted at high density (5000 plants/ha) to encourage fruit intensity. The grapes were hand harvested using gentle extraction in the winery and fermented spontaneously before being aged in used 500 L oak barrel. The final wine has great acidity and freshness with sour cherry fruits and a spiciness
Blaufränkisch is a very food-friendly versatile wine As the parent grape of Gamay (and Zweigelt) it is generally light to medium-bodied with medium-high acidity Pairs well with everything from fried, roasted or barbequed chicken, pork and vegetables to heartier dishes like duck and beef stew
