A wine that is over 13.5% alcohol with more complex flavours and a richer mouthfeel. Factors such as climate, grape variety, ageing in the winery, residual sugar level and alcohol level affect the fullness of flavour and will be good clues to look out for. A full-bodied wine would the equivalent to blue-top whole fat milk. Knowing your preference towards a light bodied wine vs a full-bodied wine can help you to find a wine you’ll enjoy. If you enjoy full-bodied wines with bold intensity, look out for these grape varieties; whites with 3+ years ageing, for the reds Malbec, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tannat, Mavrud

Powerful. characterful and becoming more widely known, Tannat delivers so much for your money. This example is no exception. Intense purple in colour with strawberry fruit and wild exotic spice on the nose. To taste, chocolately fruit notes with smooth tannins and a fresh acidity to finish makes this a very mourish wine.

Appearance: Yellow with bright greenish tones, bright and vivacious.

Nose: Fresh and fruity. Also flower and citrus notes.

Palate: Fresh, young and fruity on the palate. Good structure, balanced, very good acidity.

Serving recommendation: 10-12°C

Food pairing

Red meat is the order of the day, with barbecued lamb or chargrilled steak being a good match
