VIDA
The idea behind Vida Wines came about over 5 years ago when 6 hectares of vineyard were acquired near the village of Gradets in Northwest Bulgaria, close to the medieval fortress of Baba Vida, which inspired the name.
The region has a long winemaking history boasting some of the best producers in the country thanks to ideal growing conditions and a unique microclimate. Located on the banks of the Danube river that provides a cooling effect, the vineyards are planted at 125m in an area with a moderate continental climate and mixed soils of clay, fossils, sand and chalk.
In the vineyard, Vida practices an environmentally friendly, low intervention approach and avoids the use of herbicides or pesticides. Combining traditional methods with the latest technologies, the varietal-driven range consists of expressive, aromatically precise wines for easy-drinking as well as ageing in some cases.
Vida Estates is different to the above in that the wines are not produced by Vida. Instead, our team of buyers scours the different terroirs of Central & Eastern Europe to find outstanding wines from a variety of estates with the aim of showcasing the region in a new light. These must be of high quality with good purity of expression, produced with low intervention or sustainably.
