Lechburg
Launched in 1962 by a passionate Italian family, Lechburg was Transylvania’s first certified biodynamic producer: the winery is highly engaged in protecting the local environment and its community, technological intervention is kept to a minimum, chemical substances are absent.
Nestled amongst the hills of the Lenchita region, the vineyards benefit from excellent growing conditions: The Carpathian Mountains and forests provide natural wind protection, while warm days, cool nights and plenty of sun ensure both acidity and fruit ripeness, as do too the mineral clay soils. DOC certified, the wines are known for their minerality, crisp, elegant style, notably the whites.
While the winery has received a range of international awards, most recently much success has come from The Women’s Wine & Spirits Awards, the world’s most important wine & spirits competition judged by women in recognition of the fact women consumers often seek different wines to their male counterparts. In 2019, Lechburg was awarded a Double Gold WWSA medal with the Gewurztraminer and a Silver WWSA medal with the Feteasca Regala.
